Education, or a lack of it, is thus crucial to our understanding of the era. The world heaps upon them its wealth and its pleasures and thereby kindles and fosters their craving for self-indulgence. The passage here quoted is a fragment Nauck, Fragmenta, of a play now lost. The first two sections each have their own title-page as well, but the small but visible difference in paper quality and the setting of page numbers between them and the third part suggest that the latter was actually a separate, earlier printing and not a reprinting retaining the earlier date.
